with spoils of war … to be precise, $30. That’s a long way for such a small amount. Still, it’s a personal achievement to ride there and back.
I left Hazelbrook at about 7:30 – I would have gone earlier but Pete wanted to see me off. It took just about an hour and fifteen minutes to get off the mountain; that’s roughly a third of the time taken in the other direction. From there it was just a steady slog along the Cumberland Plain to Parramatta. As opposed to yesterday, there were plenty of cyclists going either direction along the freeway.
Just before Mays Hill, I got a nasty puncture from what looked like most of a roofing nail – I’ll try and post the camera-phone picture to Flickr later. The nail went into the tyre and then out the sidewall. Once I replaced the tube, I continued on, via the cycleways this time, and arrived home at quarter past one. That’s about 5:30 on the road which is slower than January’s trip from Katoomba, but I was pushing a bigger load this time.
Update: Look here for what caused my puncture.
