I tried to book train tickets for Christmas holidays today 🙁
Obviously I’d forgotten how much of a pain it was the last time I did it (two years ago). Still, I didn’t have the issue with the service north like I did on that previous trip – this time it was the return service from Coffs Harbour at 12:27. Apparently, bookings on that service are only available in the two weeks prior to the date of travel which is useless for anything but spontaneous trips. If I wanted to pack up my bike in the dark, I could have booked another service at 3am or whenever it leaves Coffs but you can understand me not wanting to do that 🙂
After I hung up on the girl in the ticket office, telling her that obviously they didn’t want me to use a train for my holidays, I wrote a nastygram via the web contacts page. When I’d reflected on the situation over a cup of coffee, I realised that I should have done what I did two years ago – book to Casino and then vary the ticket in the last two weeks. When they ring me up in responseÂ to my email, I might see if that works again.
