I didn’t get a response to my nasty-gram that I sent last week, but I rang up again and spoke to a guy who looked through the options and asked why I didn’t just book the 7:41 am service out of Coffs Harbour on the way home. That’s a good question – I guess I’ve always felt that I was at the end of my travel by the time I rode to Coffs, and that I could lie in a bit, relax with a leisurely breakfast at a local cafe with the paper and then catch the train home at a reasonable hour.
Of course before the purchase of the bike bag, I also had to wait for the local bike shop to open so I could get a box to pack the bike in, which precluded the earlier service (or at least made it damn inconvenient). I’d not even checked the CountryLink website for an alternative service this time – just rung them up and hassled over the 12:27 service. Now that I have the bag with me, I can get up early as I will have done for the previous few days and go straight to the station for the 7:41, so that’s what I’ve booked.
I’ve also booked leave from work, and will organise motels in the new month or so. I’ll be on holidays from the 13th of December to the 7th of January, all up.
