I’ve signed up for an account at MotionBased, which is an online repository of cycling stats. I can upload data from my new toy – the Garmin Edge 305 – so that I can access them some machine other than that running the Garmin traning centre software, or share them with others. The unit is nice – a combined heart-rate sensor, speed/cadence sensor on the bike, and GPS unit. It does most of what the Etrex Summit does, but is meant more as a cycle-training aid. Basically it replaces the old cycle computer and every so often I can sync it up to the windows box and get the stats on all the riding I’ve done in the period, including heart-rate and calorie comsumption information. It produces nice graphs of stuff like speed vs. heart rate vs. altitude, as well as the map of the route.
MotionBased does much the same, but on-line. Some of the pretty SVG funtionality is IE-specific, although they’re planning a site-rewrite to better support Firefox.
