Danya and I rode the 2014 Gong yesterday. It was a good day out on the bike and we were met at the end by his girlfriend – it’s nice to have a welcoming committee
It was a chilly start, at around 15 degrees, with strong headwinds for the first part of the ride. As we entered the Royal National Park, however, the wind was obviously not a factor. The temperature increased slightly along the coast, but only reached the mid-20s. We finished the ride at about 1pm (from a 7:30 start), had some lunch, and caught the train back to Sydney.
So far we’ve raised $790 between us – down from last year, but still a decent amount. With pledged donations, we should break $800, and there’s still time for those who haven’t donated to do so.

I’ve uploaded some videos and photos – there wasn’t the same number of people in costume as in previous years, from what I saw, but there was a Jens Voight fan I spotted at the Loftus rest stop.

The ride data is available here, if people are interested. Unfortunately the GPS locked up at 14km, so there’s about 7km (30 minutes) missing from around the Taren Point Bridge.
