Climate of fear

According to a poll conducted by a coalition of US tourist groups, %70 of travellers entering the USA are more scared of US officials than criminals or terrorists. According to this article, the PR problem is big and getting bigger.

“We are citizens of a country regarded as one of the closest allies the US has,” frequent British visitor Ian Jeffrey told the Orlando Sentinel last November. “Yet on arrival we are treated like suspects in a criminal investigation and made to feel very unwelcome.”

The US is apparently rated as twice an unfriendly place as any other listed in the survey. Can I just say that I’m not surprised?

Come over here – customs is a breeze – in fact I didn’t even realize we had gone through as there were NO people there!
